Picture this… Sitting at the Salk Institue in front of breathtaking views of San Diego whilst the sunsets over California. The most stunning venue to date. I was so honoured to be invited to the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 show this year and the new collection certainly didn’t disappoint.
The setting was clearly inspired by brutalist architecture, especially with the venue having such a distinctive style – think minimal with lots of concrete. It was open-air with Nicholas Ghesquière expressing “The elements are invited.” It was so wonderful to be within nature and the atmosphere was just electric.
The collection really played on this theme with lots of contrasting elements, from Avant grade silhouettes, leather eyelet belts, fringed skirts, textured jackets and draped fabrics. It was interesting to see the juxtaposition and how these design concepts were all styled together. I would love to hear your thoughts on what looks spoke to you the most!
