I love Christmas – always have, always will! However, it sometimes makes me wish I was ten years again and I long for the days when every December morning, I opened a present from my Advent calendar shaky with excitement.

The older I get, the harder it gets to get into the right Christmas mood. This year I was so busy and spent so much time travelling to sunny places well into December that the second candle on the Advent wreath was well lit before I even realized that Christmas was around the corner. I decided that the last trip of the year had to be to a location that would get me into the proper mood for the holidays! For me Christmas means family, getting cozy, good food, and lots of love! Thus, what place would be more perfect to celebrate your Christmas Break than Paris?!! We spontaneously booked a HomeAway apartment via FeWo Direkt (here) in the most perfect location with a direct view on the Eiffel Tower. Every night we stood by the window every full hour waiting for the Eiffel Tower to start twinkling like a Christmas tree. The great thing about home away apartments is not only that they tend to feel more homey than hotel rooms but that you can usually accommodate more people than in a hotel room. Therefore, Alex and I took my younger sister with us! 🙂 It wasn’t the first time I shared a cozy HomeAway apartment with friends – Do you still remember my apartment during Paris fashion week last year? During our days in Paris we spend a lot of time strolling around the area of the Eiffel Tower, visiting the “German like” Christmas market underneath and we even went ice-skating right under the city’s hallmark! Also, I already told you about our ohhcouture Christmas party (here) that we spent snuggled up on the couch watching Harry Potter – if that is not the epitome of home away from home I do not know what is! 😉 Finally, there is no place that makes you feel more like a ten year old on the morning of Christmas sitting in front of the pile of presents under the Christmas tree than the magical, magical place called Disneyland!!! My sister and I had the most amazing day here to wrap up our trip to Paris and we drove home singing the parade’s theme song and our stomachs still going in circles from the Mickey Mouse cupcakes and the roller coasters! What better way to get into a Christmas mood? xx Leonie

Ich liebe Weihnachten – ich habe es schon immer geliebt und ich werde es hoffentlich immer lieben! Aber manchmal wünschte ich mir, dass ich wieder zehn Jahre alt wäre – und jeden morgen zittrig vor Aufregung ein Päckchen vom Adventskalender öffnen würde in Vorfreude auf den großen Tag. Umso älter ich werde, umso schwieriger wird es in die richtige Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen. Dieses Jahr war ich so beschäftigt und bin bis weit in den Dezember an sonnige Orte gereist, so dass die zweite Kerze auf dem Adventskranz schon lange angezündet war, bis ich gemerkt hatte, dass Weihnachten um die Ecke war! Ich musste dringend an einen Ort reisen, der mich so richtig in Weihnachtsstimmung bringen würde! Für mich bedeutet Weihnachten Familie, sich einkuscheln, gutes Essen und ganz viel Liebe! Welcher Ort könnte also besser für den Weihnachtsurlaub geeignet sein als Paris?!! Wir haben spontan ein Appartment über FeWoDirekt (hier) mit einem einmaligen Blick auf den Eiffelturm gebucht. Jeden Abend haben wir zur vollen Stunde am Fenster gestanden und darauf gewartet, dass das Wahrzeichen beginnt zu blinken und glitzern wie der Weihnachtsbaum! Das Großartige an Fewos ist nicht nur, dass sie sich häufig heimeliger anfühlen als Hotelzimmer, häufig passen auch mehr Leute rein – und so haben Alex und ich meine kleine Schwester noch mitgenommen! 🙂 Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass ich mir über FeWo ein Apartment mit Freunden geteilt habe – Erinnert ihr euch an mein schönes Apartment zur Paris Fashion Week? Während unserer Tage in Paris haben wir viel Zeit am Eiffelturm verbracht. Wir sind über den „deutschen“ Weihnachtsmarkt am Eiffelturm geschlendert und waren hier sogar Schlittschuhlaufen! 🙂 Außerdem habe ich euch ja schon von unserer Ohhcouture Weihnachtsfeier der besonderen Art erzählt (hier), die wir eingekuschelt auf der Couch beim Harry Potter gucken verbracht haben – wenn das nicht der Inbegriff von Home Away From Home ist, dann weiß ich auch nicht… 😉 Zuletzt gibt es wohl kaum einen Ort an dem man sich so sehr wie eine Zehnjährige am Heiligen Morgen unter dem Weihnachtsbaum fühlt wie DISNEYLAND!! Meine Schwester und ich hatten hier einen ganz wundervollen (man könnte fast sagen „magischen“ ;)) Tag und als wir abends im Zug zurück nach Paris saßen, haben wir noch den Titelsong der Disneyparade gesungen und unsere Bäuche haben Loopings geschlagen von der Kombination aus Mickey Mouse cupcakes und Achterbahnen! 😉 Könnte es einen besseren Ort geben um in Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen? xx Leonie

Liebe Leonie,
mir ging es genaus dieses Mal, viel Stress und Arbeit und die Weihnachtsstimmung ließ sich einfach nicht einstellen. Normalerweise bin ich schon Anfang Dezember voll im Weihnachtsmodus, aber er kam einfach nicht.
Habe mich in der Zeit oft dabei erwischt, dass ich mir gewünscht habe nach New York zu fliegen, um mir den tollen Weihnachtsbaum im Rockefeller Center anzusehen oder nach Paris!
Du hast eine wundervole Wahl getroffen, denn Paris zur Weihnachtszeit ist einfach magisch! Wer würde das nicht in Weihnachtsstimmung kommen!

Mega schöne Idee mit der Ferienwohnung. Ich dachte erst es wäre eure eigene. Die Seite muss ich mir mal ansehen, wäre vielleicht eine Alternative zu Airbnb. Das klappt zwar immer sehr gut, ist aber für einen kurzen Zeitraum oft so teuer das es sich kaum lohnt.

Witzig, sitze gerade im Zug nach Hause aus Paris.
Haben in der gleichen Gegend gewohnt und heute morgen stand ich noch genau dort unter dem Eiffelturm.
Paris ist einfach einzigartig und jeden einzelnen Trip wert!!

Wow everything looks so amazing and expensive.
However, I never understood how self centrism based on showing off branded positions and good looks became a thing. There are many interesting bloggers out there but then there is the ones that have nothing much else to talk about other the complicated life choices between D&G and Hermès..
I really hope that it was as fun as you described it and that your life are as exciting as they seem here because if they do you really are living the dream and I for one would love to hear how you made it so far 🙂
