Cannes Film Festival is one of my annual highlights – I always look forward to soaking up the energy and atmosphere of the Croisette even though I still get quite nervous for any red carpet appearance. I was so happy to return to the iconic Carlton, Cannes hotel and this year got to stay in their Alfred Hitchcock suite, where the legendary kiss between Grace Kelly and Cary Grant took place in the film ‘To Catch a Thief’. It felt so magical to stay in a place with such old Hollywood glamour and history. The suite is directly underneath the famous dome at the front with the best sea views! It was such a dream to get ready and film there as there was so much natural light and it was truly the perfect backdrop to showcase my gowns for the carpet.

I was so excited to create custom gowns this year with some of my favourite brands, Milla Nova and Nicole & Felicia. We all put so much time, care and detail into every aspect of the gowns so I hope you loved them as much as I did! For Milla Nova, we wanted to create a chic evening look with an extravagant bow cape and super low back detail, which I knew would be a statement walking down the carpet.
After our amazing cooperation on last year’s dream dress, the team at Nicole and Felicia and I knew we had to create another special moment together. This time, we chose to create a rose-inspired cape, which wrapped around the deep v sweetheart neckline and then cascaded in the most beautiful chiffon. We went for a classic black and white colour palette to define silhouette the silhouette, which I felt so elegant in. Which look was your fave?
After how busy the carpets are, I always try to recharge and was treated to the tastiest vegan pastries by the Carlton’s Pastry Chef Jean-François Barbéris. A vegan pavlova, made with ‘green’ meringue, whipped cream, and local cherries was created especially for me and the perfect sweet treat to get my sugar levels up! If you would love to try it out for yourself, then you can experience it at the Tea Lounge this month. I can’t wait to visit again, thank you Carlton for an unforgettable stay.
