A MAGICAL PORTOFINO TRIP

My loves, I haven’t yet found the time to write about the most magical trip of my life – my engagement in Portofino…

Alex and I were in Venice for a project and as I loved visiting Portofino for the first time last year, I talked Alex into a little spontaneous trip to the Splendido Belmond Hotel in Portofino and afterwards the beautiful Imperial Palace which is only a 10minute drive from the lovely small village Portofino. I stayed here last year and I loved the hotel for its authentic charm, old-style rooms with painted high ceilings and terraces with stunning views.

I had a feeling this might become a very special trip as Alex and I just celebrated 10 years of being together the previous month and because we both had a feeling we reached such a special and beautiful place in our relationship where we feel really proud and happy about how far we’ve come and about the home we created both in Hamburg our home town and London our chosen town.

June the 15th was a cold and rainy day and Alex told me he had a boat trip and dinner planned which was a little suspicious as I’m the foodie in our relationship and normally plan all things food. He also told me it will be really cute and told me to wear something pretty in case I want to take some pictures. Even though he thought I was completely clueless, I actually got so nervous and excited, I hardly slept that night… and when we woke up on this cold and rainy day I thought to myself: hopefully he wasn’t planning on proposing to me TODAY 😀 I don’t want to go to much into detail as I love holding things closest to my heart a little protected but Alex took me on his planned boat trip and the rainy day turned out to be the most beautiful, romantic and special day I could have ever dreamed of. Thinking about it still makes me very emotional because it all felt like a dream and I feel endlessly grateful I found my soulmate, partner and best friend and got to create our dream lives together and now taking our love to an ever deeper and bigger chapter…

The boat on a peaceful afternoon in Portofino, the violins, Alex’s words, the most romantic dinner of my life, the time… I’ve never in my life been so emotional and I remember that night going to bed, holding my hand with the engagement ring to my heart, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world…
