The first years of my life, I lived near the river Elbe in H a m b u r g.
Even though we moved to Schleswig Holstein in the North of Hamburg when I was four, I still have some early childhood memories. I was just a little kid, but I crazily loved Hamburg. When we were looking for houses in a different city, I used to stay hiding in the car, just to express that I was not approving! 😉 When I moved back to Hamburg after university, I always felt a little magic when going back to the places I used to know from when I was young. Our two rivers Elbe and Alster are a huge part of what makes Hamburg so special. As I grew up near the Elbe and the harbor, I always feel excited when going to the Elbstrand. It’s a rather small beach next to the Elbe and you have a breathtaking view on parts of the harbor. It’s a view which is totally Hamburg and even though I’ve been here so often, I still feel like the place is unreal. When I headed to the Elbstrand to take some pictures for my River Island Hamburg Guide, I was wearing a floral River Island daress, slipper and my J. W. Anderson bag. I also found a cute scarf which I like to wrap around my hair or around my bag. It was sunny and warm when I headed in the direction of the Elbstrand, but it got grey as soon as I arrived. 😉 But you can’t really expect anything else when talking about Hamburg. 😉 Nearby the Elbstrand you can walk down a little side walk. Get some fish & chips or sit down at the “Strandperle” to enjoy yourself. Hamburg definitely has so many cute places to discover. xx Leonie
