When Gucci met Balenciaga | FW21 ‘Aria’ Show

Have you seen the most recent Gucci Fall-Winter show uniting both Balenciaga and Gucci? Gucci refers to it as a “hacking” of Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga designs by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele and I am obsessed!

As it’s Gucci’s 100 year anniversary this year, it wasn’t a surprise that they were going to celebrate with something special! But oh boy was it special. Gucci and Balenciaga are both renowned for their forward-thinking, avant-garde approach to design and the way they have managed to seamlessly intertwine iconic styles from both houses is just spectacular.

What really caught my eye was the take on Balenciaga’s hourglass blazer and knife mules emblazoned with their logos. I particularly love the crystal-embellished blazer as it has such a wow-factor but also because the silhouette is so flattering on every shape, I recently wore a past season tweed version of it and fell in love with the structure, these investment pieces really will stay in your wardrobe for years to come.

While some looks may not seem tricky for everyday styling at first glance, I think that the monochrome blazer incorporating both brand’s signature aesthetics is actually super wearable paired with leather trousers and simple accessories. If you wanted to go extra you could add their Jackie bag to finish the look!

After the Gucci X Northface collab, it was really interesting to see their new take on the puffer jacket with the Balenciaga logo – which one do you prefer? I’m loving this off-the-shoulder style!

If accessories are more your speed then definitely watch out for these to appear in boutiques. The crystal knife style boots and delicate mesh slingback mules are both so stunning and would be the perfect addition for an elevated casual look.

Plus, you guys already know I’m a fan of Balenciaga’s hourglass bag as they do them in such amazing bright colours! What do you think of the Gucci floral print combo below?

I’ve put together a selection of my fave Gucci and Balenciaga pieces that are available now to shop (or window shop ;)) whilst you wait for this stunning new collection to arrive. I hope you love them as much as I do!

I think you’re right about the monogram blazer being fairly wearable on general daily occasions. It’s something that could be accompanied with more basic pieces to to really let the blazer shine as a statement piece. I also love how the monograms looks together – it doesn’t seem like overkill or too much branding. Very lovely post!
