Find Your One Thing | Düsseldorf

When it comes to shopping there are two things that make my heart beat a little faster. Firstly: when I find a special piece that tells a story, and secondly when I see sale signs!

When I was a child my mom always went to Hamburg’s city center with me and my little sister when it was sale season and we were always in good company – humans are hunters after all! For us it was less about buying bags and bags of clothes and more about the hunt itself! Even today when I see a reduced price my business-and-administration-me gets all excited. Because after all when you buy a piece on sale you get more for less, so you are basically saving money! 😉 That is why I was very happy to be invited to Düsseldorf for the opening of the first Saks store in Germany! I love Saks Fifth Avenue because they always have an amazing assortment of designer pieces and I go there whenever I am in the States. Saks Off 5th in Düsseldorf is the first Saks store here and the permanently changing designer selection awakens the treasure hunter in me! Because the designer pieces from Chloé, Gucci, Fendi and Co are always off-price, even up to 60%! And what better combination could be there than both a designer AND a sale tag?! 🙂 There are new pieces arriving permanently and the whole collection changes every two to three months. And there is more good news for those of you who don’t live close to Düsseldorf: Saks Off also opened stores in Heidelberg, Rotterdam, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Wiesbaden! But first things first: before the doors of Saks Off in Düsseldorf where officially opened, we were allowed to go on a little treasure hunt with the theme “Find your one thing”. I managed to find a piece that I had wanted to buy in the store before but somehow failed to do so and then regretted it later: a pair of Saint Laurent espadrilles with a flower print! I love espadrilles but I sometimes feel that they look a bit “undressed”. However, these particular pair has these laces that make them look like a mix between espadrilles and sneakers, which makes them look so special! I also had a pair of Valentino Rockstud sneakers and a pair of cute Dolce shoes short-listed and it was a tough choice! But now that I took the espadrilles along on a trip for the first time, I know that I made the right decision! They simply fit every summer outfit and we even found a bush that looked exactly like them! 😉 I will definitely visit Saks Off 5th again when I am in the Düsseldorf area and I am already curious what treasure I will find then! Because even if I like online shopping, I still love looking through pieces in a store especially when I don’t know what I might find! And while the collection is usually the same in a store, you never know what’s in store for you at Saks Off – literally! 😉 xx Leonie

Wenn es ums Shoppen geht, dann gibt es zwei Sachen, die mein Herz höher schlagen lassen! Erstens: wenn ich ein besonderes Teil finde, das eine Geschichte erzählt und zweitens: wenn ich Rabattzeichen sehe! Schon als Kind bin ich mit meiner Mutter und meiner kleinen Schwester im Schlussverkauf stundenlang in der Hamburger Innenstadt auf Schnäppchenjagd gegangen und waren dabei immer in guter Gesellschaft – der Mensch ist eben doch ein Jäger! Es ging uns damals weniger darum viel zu kaufen, als um das Erlebnis der Suche! 🙂 Noch immer ist der BWLer in mir ganz begeistert, wenn er ein Reduziert-Schild sieht, denn es bedeutet ja, das man für weniger Geld einen höheren Wert bekommt und also quasi Geld spart! 😉 Umso mehr habe ich mich gefreut, dass in Deutschland jetzt der erste Saks Off 5th Avenue aufgemacht hat! Ich liebe Saks Fifth Avenue, weil das Geschäft ein wirklich tolles Sortiment hat und wenn ich in Amerika bin, statte ich Saks immer einen Besuch ab. Deswegen habe ich mich sehr gefreut bei der Eröffnung von Saks Off 5th in Düsseldorf dabei sein zu können! Saks Off 5th in Düsseldorf ist das erste Saks Geschäft hier in Deutschland und hat ein ständig wechselndes Sortiment, das den Jäger in mir wach ruft! Denn die Markenteile von Chloé, Gucci, Fendi und Co sind immer off-price, bis zu 60%! Und was könnte besser sein, als die Kombination aus Designer UND Sale tag? Fortlaufend kommen neue Artikel rein und das gesamte Sortiment wird alle zwei bis drei Monate getauscht! Und es gibt mehr gute Nachrichten für die unter uns, die nicht in der Nähe von Düsseldorf wohnen: Saks Off hat noch weitere Stores eröffnet in Heidelberg, Rotterdam, Frankfurt, Stuttgart und Wiesbaden! Schon vor der offiziellen Eröffnung in Düsseldorf durften wir im Saks Off 5th Stöbern gehen und unsere Lieblingsstücke jagen ganz nach dem Motto “Find your one thing”. Ich habe tatsächlich eine Sache gefunden, die ich schon damals im Laden kaufen wollte, den Moment aber irgendwie verpasst habe und es später wirklich bereut habe: ein Paar Espadrilles von Saint Laurent mit einem sommerlichen Blumenmuster! Ich liebe Espadrilles, finde aber, dass sie manchmal nicht so angezogen aussehen. Was ich an diesem Paar hingegen so toll finde, ist, dass sie durch die Schnürung ein bisschen wie eine Mischung aus Espadrilles und Turnschuh aussehen! Außerdem hatte ich noch ein Paar Valentino Rockstud Sneaker und ein süßen Paar Dolce Schuhe in der engsten Auswahl und die Entscheidung ist mir wirklich nicht leicht gefallen. Aber jetzt, wo ich die Espadrilles das erste Mal im Urlaubsgepäck dabei hatte, bin ich mir ganz sicher, dass ich die richtige Entscheidung getroffen habe! Die Schuhe passen wirklich super zu jedem Sommerlook und es war tatsächlich Zufall, dass wir an einem Busch vorbeigekommen sind, der wirklich etwas aussah, wie die Schuhe selbst! Wenn ich das nächste Mal wieder in der Nähe von Düsseldorf bin, werde ich Saks Off auf jeden Fall wieder einen Besuch abstatten und bin gespannt, was für einen Schatz ich dann finden werde! Denn obwohl ich auch gerne online shoppe, liebe ich es einfach durch Geschäfte zu stöbern und vor allem, wenn man noch nicht ganz weiß, was einen erwartet! Und während in den meisten Läden das Sortiment doch immer das gleiche ist, weiß man bei Saks Off nie, welche Überraschung auf einen wartet! 🙂 xx Leonie

    Ich musste beim Lesen deines Posts eben grinsen, denn ich war gestern in der Hamburger Innenstadt auf der Jagd und habe wirklich tolle Schnäppchen ergattern können (mein Herz schlägt für Statement-Jacken, obwohl ich schon sooo viele habe..;D)
