Monday Update #52

You might still remember that I wrote last week that I had something very special coming up this week: the Royal Ascot with Longines! For the event we stayed in Hampshire and I felt transported into the movie “The Holiday”, where Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet swap homes and the LA workaholic Cameron Diaz ends up in a tiny rustic home in Surrey. Our hotel was very close by and although our hotel room was neither tiny nor rustic, I did feel like living in the old-days English Countryside. 🙂

Luckily I had ordered some really nice summer clothes that fit the occasion the week before on Net-a-Porter as part of their Jet-a-Porter summer campaign. During our time with Longines we lived in the Four Seasons Hampshire and it was such a beautiful place with an authentic charm and beautiful flower gardens. Here, we had a day of shooting and filming with Longines before the actual race started. The week before the Royal Ascot the event already kept us busy because there is a rather demanding dress code that would easily fill several pages. For example women’s hats had to have a certain minimum diameter, dresses a certain length, straps a certain width and only certain shoes were allowed. I decided on a long and flowing Zimmermann dress. In the end I was glad that I chose a light fabric and thankful for my hat’s big diameter (big diameter = lots of shade) because it was 32 degrees and bright sunshine all day! Attending the Royal Ascot was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I am so thankful for all the amazing experiences that I already got to make with Longines (read more about it here and here)!

The day after the Royal Ascot ended up being rather stressful because we nearly missed our plane. Only once did we miss a flight before and this was in London as well when all the streets were closed because they were putting up the Christmas decoration all over town. No Christmas decoration in June but the drive from Hampshire to the city airport ended up taking three hours instead of two and we were getting quite anxious! However, with luck and a little sprint we made it in the end and headed to Mykonos. After we had spent the week before on Zakynthos, Spetses and in Athens, I was looking forward to visiting Mykonos for the first time! Since we had our bags already packed for Greece anyway and were infected with the Greece Fever (no worries: it is not an actual disease but it might be contagious ;)), we had decided to head straight back there from England for some relaxing time. We spent a couple of unforgettable days on Mykonos and I totally fell for the place! We stayed first at the Cavo Tagoo Mykonos and than at the Rocabella Mykonos and I can recommend both places from the heart! I am posting the pictures from Mykonos on Instagram just now because I didn’t find the time before so make sure to have a look!

P L A N S: From Mykonos we headed to Santorini today. I have been to Santorini twice before (here) and the island is one of my favorite places in Europe and in the world! By now, I know my way around and we have quite a few favorite restaurant and cafés that I want to revisit! I do want to write an extensive Santorini Travel Guide and I hope that I finally manage to do it this time! I have said it before with regard to Capri (here): I do love visiting new places but I also love coming back to a place that I already know and where I feel at home! We packed all the projects that we still want to shoot and I hope we will have a couple of days with both work and relaxing time ahead of us! Afterward we will head to Tegernsee with Wella and I am looking forward to that as well but will tell you all about that some other time!

N E W   I N: When it’s summer time and there’s a lot of traveling ahead of us, I always love to have a look around at Sundress and this time I found one dress that I love love love! Also I am very much in love with summer bags made out of special material this year such as this cute Muun straw bag that I found on Net-a-Porter. And naturally I’ve been Sale shopping and I could say no to this cute Ganni T-Shirt with heart/apple details (curious?) and I bought the N°21 sandals that I already had my eyes on last week! I assembled some of the new Sale items below – Valentino Rockstuds for example!!!

R E V I E W: Ihr erinnert euch vielleicht noch, dass ich letzte Woche geschrieben habe, dass diese Woche etwas ganz besonderes ansteht! Und zwar waren wir mit Longines beim Royal Ascot! Wir haben in Hampshire gewohnt und ich habe mich direkt versetzt gefühlt in den Film „Liebe braucht keine Ferien“, wo Cameron Diaz mit Kate Winslet Häuser tauscht und in einem kleinen romantischen Cottage in Surrey endet. Unser Hotel war ganz in der Nähe und auch ich habe mich wie auf einer kleinen Zeitreise in die englische Countryside versetzt gefühlt. Tatsächlich hatte ich zum Glück auch die passende Garderobe dabei, da ich mir bei Net-a-Porter im Rahmen der Jet-a-Porter Sommerkampagne ein paar schöne romantische Sommerteile ausgesucht hatte. Wir haben im Four Seasons Hampshire gewohnt und die Anlage hatte wirklich einen super authentischen Charme mit Blumengärten und allem drum und dran! Am ersten Tag haben wir hier für Longines gefilmt und geshootet, bevor es dann zum Rennen ging. Schon im Vorfeld war das Royal Ascot aufregend, weil es wirklich eine genauen mehrseitigen Dresscode gab. Zum Beispiel mussten die Hüte für Frauen einen bestimmten Mindestdurchmesser erfüllen, die Kleider brauchten eine bestimmte Länge und Trägerweite und selbst für die Schuhe gab es Regeln! Ich habe mich entschlossen ein langes fließendes Zimmermann Kleid zu tragen und war froh, dass ich einen luftigen Stoff gewählt habe und auch über den großen Durchmessers (= großer Schatten) meiner Kopfbedeckung, denn es waren 32 Grad und strahlender Sonnenschein! Das Royal Ascot einmal zu erleben war auf jeden Fall eine ganz besondere Erfahrung. Als die Queen in einem grünen Kostümchen in einer Pferdekutsche einfuhr, musste ich an meine Mama denken, die als Englisch- und Geschichtslehrerin schon im Vorfelde ordentlich aufgeregt war! 🙂 Ich bin Longines wirklich dankbar für all die tollen Sachen, die wir in der Zwischenzeit mit ihnen erlebt haben (lies mehr darüber: hier und hier)!

Am nächsten Tag kam dann etwas Stress auf, weil wir fast unseren Flieger verpasst hätten. Bei all der Fliegerei haben wir erst ein einziges Mal einen Flieger verpasst und das war ebenfalls in London, als die Weihnachtsdeko aufgehängt wurde und deswegen alle Straßen gesperrt waren. Im Juni wird zwar keine Weihnachtsdeko aufgehängt, aber wir haben trotzdem von Hampshire zum City Airport statt zwei drei Stunden gebraucht und ehrlich gesagt schon etwas gezittert. Mit etwas Glück und einem ordentlichen Sprint saßen wir letztendlich aber doch in der Maschine nach Mykonos. Nachdem wir in der Woche zuvor auf Zakynthos, Spetses und in Athen waren, habe ich mich sehr darüber gefreut zum ersten Mal Mykonos zu sehen. Und wenn man schon den Koffer für Griechenland gepackt hat und einen das Griechenlandfieber gepackt hat (keine Angst: das ist keine echte Krankheit aber nicht desto Trotz vielleicht ansteckend ;)), konnten wir nicht darauf verzichten noch einmal für etwas Entspannung zurückzufliegen. Auf Mykonos haben wir wirklich ein paar unvergessliche Tage verbracht, von denen jetzt erst die Posts auf Instagram online kommen, weil ich vor lauter Schwärmerei noch gar nicht dazu gekommen bin. Ich habe mich auf jeden Fall in diesen Ort verliebt! Wir haben zuerst im Cavo Tagoo Mykonos und dann im Rocabella Mykonos und ich kann beide Hotels wirklich wärmstens empfehlen!

P L A N S: Von Mykonos aus geht es jetzt für ein paar Tage nach Santorini. Ich war ja bereits zwei Mal auf Santorini (hier) und die Insel ist wirklich einer meiner liebsten Orte in Europa! Ich kenne mich hier inzwischen wirklich gut aus und wir haben eine ganze Reihe von Lieblingsrestaurants, die wir auf jeden Fall wieder besuchen werden! Ich möchte wirklich bald auch mal einen ausführlichen Santorini Travel Guide machen. Ich habe es letztens schon bezüglich Capri gesagt (hier): es ist zwar immer auch schön neue Orte kennenzulernen, aber ich liebe es auch an einen Ort zurückzukehren, an dem ich mich auskenne und wo ich mich Zuhause fühle! Wir haben alle Projekte, die wir noch fotografieren wollen, mit nach Santorini gebracht und wollen ein paar schöne und produktive Tage hier verbringen. Danach geht es auf einen neuen spannenden Trip mit Wella an den Tegernsee, aber mehr dazu erzähle ich euch ein anderes Mal!

N E W   I N: Wenn es Sommer ist und viele aufregende Reisen vor uns liegen, dann gucke ich immer gerne auf Sundress nach neuer Sommerkleidung und dieses Mal habe ich wieder ein Kleid gefunden, das ich wirklich liebe! Außerdem bin ich diese Saison ganz verliebt in sommerliche Taschen aus besonderem Material, wie zum Beispiel diese Tasche aus Korb von Muun, die ich auf Net-a-Porter gefunden habe. Und natürlich war auch ich im Sale unterwegs und konnte bei einem Ganni T-Shirt mit Herz/Apfeldetails nicht nein sagen (neugierig?) und habe mir außerdem die tollen N°21 Sandalen gekauft, die ich schon letzte Woche in meiner engeren Auswahl hatte! Ich habe ein paar neue Sale Items unten für euch gesammelt – zum Beispiel Valentino Rockstuds!!!
